Summer... I LOVE it! and add water to The equation... So much the better! In our area it is fairly common to see or hear loons... Just wonderful!
I haven't yet gotten out the kayak this summer... Hopefully later this week!
I live in Maine in an area virtually peppered with lakes and ponds.
Here are some of my favorite shots from last summers explorations!

One morning in July I was traveling the Ridge Road. In places water borders both sides of the wooded road. As I drove by Mosher Pond in Fayette a magical mist rose off the water and the sunlight coming over the hill behind the small island caused a wonderful glow. "Ridge Road Morning Mist" was shot that morning. The scene was pure magic.
"Parker Pond Boat Landing" is a shot taken early one summer morning on Parker Pond in Vienna, Kennebec County, Maine. The pond is dotted with many small wooded islands bordered with high bush blueberries. If one is lucky loons, eagles, Canadian geese, turtles and hawks may be seen. One may also be confused to hear the distant roar of a lion due to a wildlife sanctuary which is across the hills several miles away. I love the peaceful morning beauty of the place.
One misty, rainy morning I stopped to take pictures on Mosher Pond in Fayette, Maine. At one point ,while walking down to the water I came upon a number of Canada Geese resting on the shoreline...... they quickly scrambled into the water and began to swim to the center of the pond. They made for interesting images as they floated out into the rainy, gray distance. The photo "Canadian Geese", by Joy Nichols, has been edited with watercolor process and texture.
Here is a selection of images taken while Kayaking :
While kayaking on Parker Pond in Vienna, Maine early one August morning I caught the shot "Parker Morning". I was behind a skinny string of islands as the sun streamed over the hillside across the water and brightened the mist rising off the water. "Parker Morning" was edited with watercolor process and texture.
it is quite rainy today, which is good to help gardens grow... But hopefully I can get that Kayak out soon!
